AGT BUT CAN THEY SEE IT?

RANTING REGARDING THE 1ST RESULTS SHOW

 

Hey there silent reader.  I just have to vent and this is a great place to do it. After all when I'm here it really is all about me!  And this is a wonderful way to let 'er rip and voice my opinions on the many shows I watch.  (Lets face it, I'm old and cranky and don't have much of a life.)  This weeks gem, America's Got Talent - The Results.

It was stressful!  I found myself griping at the judges when it came time for them to choose the final act (which to me should have been obvious).  So there I was, screeching at the TV like a banshee as if it can hear me.  Kind of pathetic, I know but I couldn't help myself.  I was beyond cranky.  :-)

I had such high hopes for these judges.  They seem like nice, intelligent, artistic people, right?  But then stupid Howard made the wrong decision. I wanted to reach right into that screen and wring his scrawny little neck!  

Now don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the singer, Anna or any of the other child acts that appear on this show.  Well that's not entirely true. There have been a few put through over the years that have left me shaking my head in disbelief and wondering just what was in those glasses that sit on the judges table.  I just don't trust the voting audience not to put them through based solely on the "cute" factor. 

But the band, I mean they're a rock band!  A good old homegrown American Rock band who, by the way, played the perfect song and did it considerable justice.  (I repeat, stupid Howard.)  How often do we get to see that on this show?  Singers, yeah we get those by the bushels.  Rock bands (good ones anyway) not so much.

But the worst part?  The vote was left up to America.  I admit, I had a brief, if unrealistic, glimmer of hope.  But then I remembered.  America gets to choose.  Aaaarghh   (I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth.)  American voters (I can't really speak for other countries) are not to be trusted with these things.  They can be so stupid and usually are.  Just look at some of the Idols if you don't believe me.  And which winner of the X Factor (USA, anyway) actually had the "X" factor?  Personally I would be happiest if it was all left up to me but I don't see that happening anytime soon.  Too bad.  I'd be great at it!   :-)

But, for now, I rest my case. And all I can say to the judges who were so wrong (Howard) and the AGT voters is, Bite Me!
