ANOTHER PARKING LOT

Hey there, silent reader.  Let me start by asking, have you ever encountered a situation so astounding and unbelievable that you were literally left speechless?  It doesn't happen to me very often (as many of my friends can attest to) but there are two occasions that stand out in my mind.  The fact that anything stands out in my mind is astonishing in itself, but I digress. Another sign of impending old(er) age, yippee!

One involves the ever irritating parking lot scenario and the other, the even more irritating grocery store, or any store for that matter.  Always a potential for nightmare scenarios there!  For now I'll share with you another of my memorable parking lot moments.

My friend and I were out shopping and had driven up and down the rows a few times (it's a very busy store).  We finally saw someone getting ready to leave. So we pulled to the side, turned the blinker on, yada yada, you get the picture, right?  The people were (somewhat) busily loading their stuff.   My friend was driving this time so I didn't have as much of a problem with the waiting patiently part.  So there we sat and at long last the end was in sight. They returned their cart to the 'cart lot' (a rarity in itself) and prepared themselves for the return journey to whereversville.  We hadn't been waiting a super long time but we were ready to get out and get shopping!

They slowly reversed out the space and as they did we noticed a van coming up beside us to pass.  Or so we thought.  That's what cars had been doing all along cuz we were nice enough to leave them room to do so.  Big mistake. Just as the departing car moved forward, his rear tires just barely on the far side of the diagonal parking line that big ole van veered right on in.  Right there.  Right in front of us.  Really?  What was that all about?  Didn't they see us?  True, we were in a sedan and they were in a van but still, really?  I was completely flabbergasted, mouth agape and all.  Talk about nads!  And they were women.  At least I'm pretty sure they were.

Well, I was having none of that.  Uh uh, not happening.  By the time we found a place to park, my voice was back and it was pissed.  And I had to know. Just had to.  I caught up with the two women and confronted them.  I was reasonable nice, really.  It wasn't easy but I can control myself from time to time.  :-)  I think I was extra cranky for a couple of weeks after that though.
Anyway, these two had the audacity to claim that they didn't know we were waiting there to park.

Oh, really?  Do you often see people sitting in cars pulled off to the side in parking lots with their blinkers on? Hmm, maybe it's just for fun?  Maybe they're PI's or Undercover Agents trailing a suspect or a philandering spouse? Maybe they do it just to mess with the good folk who want to park their car and go shopping.  Yeah, that must be it!  (Anyone see pigs flying?)

And so, to all of you out there who swoop in at the last moment and snatch parking spots from those who have waited patiently for them I say, Bite Me!
